PROUD, CONSCIOUS AFRICAN WOMAN WOULD YOU CHOOSE BEING A BABY MOTHER OVER POLYGAMY ? WOULD YOU RATHER A SISTAH BE SINGLE OR SHE BE THE BABY MOTHER OVER POLYGAMY?
THE PHRASE,"I WOULD NEVER SHARE MY MAN!" IS THIS SEEING POLYGAMY THROUGH A TRADITIONAL,MORAL AND CULTURAL AFRIKAN VIEW OR IS THIS A EURO CENTRIC MIS UNDERSTANDING OF OUR SYSTEMS OF COMMUNAL LIVING DESCRIBED AS BARBARIC AND UNCIVILIZED?
Polygamy should not be mandatory for all Afrikan relationships it never was our-stoically, and it should be a conversation in relationships with men who are capable or willing to handle a polygamous relationship. I don't think forcing a irresponsible Black male (who recklessly has sex with random Black or other females with no intentions of forming lasting relationships with any of them, let alone raising the children he fathers)into polygamy is healthy or beneficial to the black collective. I do think since we are in a new age and time an alternative should be created to resolve this mess. My suggestion is sistah's who are unmarried or married and share children with the same man form an alliance, to help one another economically, and emotionally in raising their children and holding the Father equally accountable to those children. This may prevent government intervention i.e. court ordered child support, Baby Mama drama, continuous reckless sex by all of those who are involved. This is easier said then done, but at the same time more realistic then polygamy!
